Invokana (medical name Canagliflozin) is a drug medication that was developed to treat type 2 diabetes by inhibiting glucose transport proteins, which results in an increased amount of blood glucose elimination through the urine.
INVOKANA DRUG HISTORY
Approved for marketing and sales by the Federal Drug Administration (FDA) in 2013, problems associated with Invokana appeared quickly. Adverse reactions and side effects accompanying use of Invokana include: urinary tract and genital area infections, increased thirst, elevated LDL cholesterol, more frequent urination, and low blood pressure. Ironically, Invokana may also cause hypoglycemia (low blood glucose / low blood sugar). More drastic adverse reactions to Invokana include a high risk of foot and leg amputations. In 2016, the FDA became aware of heightened risks for bone fractures and amputations associated with Invokana, and issued a Boxed Warning to describe this risk on the drug medication package label.

INVOKANA LAWSUITS
If you have experienced serious complications as a result of using Invokana you may be well-positioned to file a defective product lawsuit against the manufacturer, a division of Johnson & Johnson known as Janssen Pharmaceuticals.
There are currently about 1,1100 lawsuits filed against Janssen Pharmaceuticals for serious health problems caused by Invokana, and that number is quickly increasing. Although most of the cases are filed in federal courts, some are filed with state courts. In October of 2018, Janssen Pharmaceuticals responded to the court filings by offering a qualified settlement fund, details and amounts of which have not yet been released to the public.
This is very good news for plaintiffs who have had serious complications as a result of using Invokana. It appears that the manufacturer is accepting some degree of responsibility for the complications caused by their product and is willing to offer compensation.
