Invokana Lawsuits

Invokana (medical name Canagliflozin) is a drug medication that was developed to treat type 2 diabetes by inhibiting glucose transport proteins, which results in an increased amount of blood glucose elimination through the urine.

INVOKANA DRUG HISTORY

Approved for marketing and sales by the Federal Drug Administration (FDA) in 2013, problems associated with Invokana appeared quickly. Adverse reactions and side effects accompanying use of Invokana include: urinary tract and genital area infections, increased thirst, elevated LDL cholesterol, more frequent urination, and low blood pressure. Ironically, Invokana may also cause hypoglycemia (low blood glucose / low blood sugar). More drastic adverse reactions to Invokana include a high risk of foot and leg amputations. In 2016, the FDA became aware of heightened risks for bone fractures and amputations associated with Invokana, and issued a Boxed Warning to describe this risk on the drug medication package label.

INVOKANA COMPLICATIONS & SIDE EFFECTS

Invokana is associated with a host of problematic complications, from minor side effects to very serious adverse reactions. Common side effects caused by Invokana:

• Increased urination
• Urinary tract infections
• Vaginal itching
• Yeast infection
• Increased thirst nausea and fatigue
• Constipation
• Weakness
• Hypersensitivity reactions, such as rash, hives, swelling, itching, and skin redness
• Bone fractures
